Actively Recruiting
Researchers are studying the link between cardiovascular disease (CVD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), as CKD is often underdiagnosed and undertreated in these patients. The study aims to better understand how CKD affects those with CVD to help develop prevention and treatment strategies, reduce complications, and prevent CKD from progressing to end-stage renal disease. This study will involve about 3,000 patients with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease who visit cardiology departments at 30 hospitals across China. Both inpatients and outpatients will be included over a six-month recruitment period. The study will assess the prevalence of proteinuria, measured by urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR), among these patients. Participants will have their albuminuria measured on the day they enroll in the study. Researchers will collect data from outpatient and inpatient visits in cardiology departments. Patients will be asked to provide informed consent. The study focuses on understanding the rate of albuminuria in this group to inform better care and management of CVD patients with T2DM.
