This research aims to better understand the relationship between cardiovascular disease CVD and chronic kidney disease CKD, especially in people who have type 2 diabetes mellitus T2DM. Since CKD is often missed or untreated in patients with CVD, the study focuses on identifying how common kidney protein loss albuminuria is in these patients. The findings will help improve prevention and treatment strategies for those at high risk, aiming to reduce complications and slow kidney disease progression. The study will include about 3,000 adult patients with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease who visit cardiology departments in 30 hospitals across China. Researchers will assess protein levels in the urine, known as albuminuria, to see how frequently it occurs among these patients. The participants will be recruited over six months, with evaluations occurring on the day they enroll in the study. Participants will provide informed consent and undergo urine testing to measure albumin levels. Researchers will also collect information about factors influencing albuminuria and how patients are currently treated in cardiology departments. The main outcome measured is the prevalence of albuminuria, including its different levels, at enrollment. This observational study does not involve treatment but aims to collect important data to guide future care for patients with CVD and diabetes.
