Researchers are evaluating two different injection methods of compound betamethasone to treat frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) in adults aged 18 to 65. This Phase 4 trial aims to find out if a gluteal muscle injection is as effective as an ultrasound-guided injection directly into the shoulder joint for improving shoulder function and reducing pain. The study also compares the side effects of these treatments to better understand their safety profiles. Participants receive one injection at the start of the study using a double-dummy design, meaning each participant receives both a real and a placebo injection—one gluteal intramuscular injection and one ultrasound-guided intra-articular injection—to maintain blinding. Alongside this, all participants follow a standardized home-based shoulder rehabilitation exercise program twice daily for 12 weeks, guided by an instructional video. During the 12-week study, participants complete regular shoulder function assessments, including measuring changes in a standardized Shoulder Pain and Disability Index from baseline to week 8. Researchers monitor pain levels, shoulder movement, and any side effects. The study also includes x-rays at the start to rule out other shoulder problems, and participants are followed up to track recovery and treatment effects over time.
