Researchers are evaluating the accuracy of 3D soft tissue simulation in bimaxillary orthognathic surgery for patients with Class III dentofacial deformities. This retrospective study uses existing CBCT scans to assess how well the Dolphin software predicts soft tissue changes, focusing on different facial regions. The goal is to improve the precision and reliability of surgical outcome predictions for maxillofacial surgery planning. The study analyzes preoperative and postoperative CBCT images from patients who underwent maxillary advancement and mandibular setback surgeries. Soft tissue surface models are generated and compared using 3D facial meshes segmented into regional aesthetic units. Prediction accuracy is evaluated in three dimensions using color-coded maps and custom software. The study includes only patients with specific surgical corrections and excludes those with craniofacial anomalies or other complicating factors. Participants are not actively involved, as the study relies on anonymized existing data. Researchers perform detailed analyses of pre- and postoperative scans to measure prediction accuracy across facial regions. The primary outcome is the soft tissue prediction accuracy one month after surgery. Ethical approval and informed consent waivers have been sought. The study aims to contribute to better surgical planning and improved treatment outcomes.
