This research focuses on Dissociative Identity Disorder DID, a psychological condition where individuals may experience multiple distinct personalities or identities. The study aims to better understand the situations that trigger identity shifts, the feelings experienced during these moments, and the subsequent events. It also seeks to differentiate genuine DID cases from those where symptoms are simulated, addressing challenges in diagnosis and treatment. Participants include approximately 60 adults, half diagnosed with DID and half simulating symptoms. They will undergo a series of questionnaires assessing dissociation, beliefs about dissociation, knowledge and skills related to dissociation, psychotraumatic symptoms, and simulation behaviors. Additionally, participants will participate in a qualitative interview with their current therapist to explore these experiences in depth. During the study, participants will complete sociodemographic questionnaires and standardized scales followed by an interview that is recorded for thematic analysis. Researchers will analyze triggers, thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and consequences of dissociative episodes. The study aims to clarify DID mechanisms and improve diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic approaches. Participation involves one main interview and questionnaire completion, with no prolonged treatment or follow-up periods.
