Researchers are investigating the use of the Ephéméride 3D tool to improve temporal orientation rehabilitation in people with Alzheimer's disease or related dementias, particularly those in mild to moderate stages. Temporal orientation problems, such as difficulty identifying the day, month, or year, often appear early in dementia and can worsen during hospitalization when environmental cues are lost. This study aims to assess the effectiveness and practicality of this new external aid in real-life hospital settings to support cognitive function. The study involves a single center observational design with 20 patients aged 65 or older who have temporal orientation impairments and mild to moderate dementia. Over about a month, patients will undergo repeated daily assessments of their knowledge of time with and without the Ephéméride 3D tool. The timeline includes initial and interim cognitive tests (MMSE) by physicians, periods of daily assessment without the tool, periods with the tool, and questionnaires completed by patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to gather feedback on the tool's usefulness and practicality. Participants will be involved in daily evaluations of their temporal knowledge, including season, year, month, day, and day of the week. These assessments occur in cycles alternating between use and non-use of the Ephéméride 3D tool. Researchers will analyze changes in cognitive function and temporal orientation using statistical methods. The study also evaluates the feasibility of establishing routine use of the tool during hospitalization and the willingness of patients to continue using it after discharge, aiming to support long-term rehabilitation and improve quality of life.
