Researchers are investigating the broad spectrum of schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders in children and adolescents aged 7 to 20 years. This study aims to better understand clinical subgroups within this population and how these groups may predict responses to specific antipsychotic medications. The study collects a wide range of clinical, biological, genetic, and radiological data to clarify treatment responses based on developmental and clinical characteristics. Participants will undergo diagnostic interviews, developmental history reviews, dimensional clinical ratings, and comprehensive cognitive assessments. When agreed upon by patients and families, structural and functional MRI scans will be performed, and blood samples will be collected for DNA analysis. Follow-up assessments, including evaluations of treatment responses to antipsychotic drugs, will take place at 1, 3, and 5 years after enrollment. Throughout the study, participants will receive thorough medical evaluations to rule out other causes of psychosis. Child psychiatrists will use the Lifetime Dimensions of Psychosis Scale at the start and follow-up visits. Researchers will monitor illness progression, cognitive status, and medication responses. The study involves detailed assessments including neuropsychological and speech/language evaluations to deepen understanding of psychosis in young patients over several years.
