Researchers are evaluating the effectiveness of an 18-day balneotherapy program using Mineral Water of Santenay in patients with knee osteoarthritis. The study aims to improve functional ability, reduce pain and joint stiffness caused by osteoarthritis, and enhance the quality of life for patients. This study is a single-arm prospective trial with an external comparison group from a previous randomized clinical trial that received standard care including pain management and exercise recommendations. Participants undergo the balneotherapy program consisting of at least four sessions daily, six days a week for three consecutive weeks. Treatments may include whirlpool baths, poultice applications, baths with immersion showers, local jet showers, penetrating showers, steam baths, air diffusion baths, and mud applications to painful areas. Exercise recommendations and monitoring of body weight and physical ability are provided similarly to the control group. The study involves three medical visits: one before or on the first day of the balneotherapy program, a remote visit at three months, and a final visit six months after starting treatment. Data collection includes investigator assessments and patient self-evaluations. Researchers measure improvements in functional capacity and symptoms using the Minimal Clinically Important Improvement at six months, while monitoring safety and treatment adherence throughout the study period.
