Researchers are evaluating the effect of combining dutasteride with aloe vera extract compared to dutasteride alone in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This phase 1, double-blind randomized controlled trial aims to assess changes in urine flow (uroflowmetry results), prostate size, and blood levels of a growth factor called VEGF. The study focuses on men diagnosed with BPH who meet specific clinical or imaging criteria. Participants receive either a combination of dutasteride 0.5 mg daily plus aloe vera extract 380 mg daily or dutasteride 0.5 mg alone for 12 weeks. The treatments are given under blinded conditions to compare their effects on angiogenesis and urinary obstruction related to BPH. The study design includes a pre- and post-treatment evaluation period. During the 12-week treatment, participants undergo uroflowmetry to measure urine flow rates and assessments for prostate volume and VEGF serum levels. Researchers monitor these outcomes to understand how the treatments affect urinary function and prostate changes. Safety and adherence are also tracked throughout the study period to ensure participant well-being and accurate results.
