Actively Recruiting

Researchers are evaluating a new therapy approach called MOBILE that aims to improve walking ability in children and teens with Cerebral Palsy, specifically those who can walk independently (GMFCS Levels I-III). This study focuses on whether the therapy is acceptable and helpful to both the children and their families in a community setting. The therapy targets individual walking goals using motor learning principles to potentially change walking patterns. The study also looks at how well participants tolerate the therapy and complete all sessions. The therapy involves completing 30 hours over 6 weeks, with at least 24 hours conducted in a clinic. Participants choose the format of their therapy sessions, but the treatment focuses on specific walking goals identified through assessment. The intervention is based on three key principles: the type of task, type of practice, and type of feedback, all designed to support motor learning and walking improvements. Participants will undergo assessments before and after the therapy to evaluate progress toward their walking goals. Researchers will monitor recruitment, adherence to the therapy, retention, adverse events, and how acceptable the intervention is to participants and families over a 2-year period. Interviews will also be conducted to gather feedback on the therapy experience. Outcome measures include the feasibility and time taken to complete assessments, with safety and fidelity to the intervention protocol carefully tracked throughout the study.
