Actively Recruiting

This research aims to compare quality of life in patients who have had surgery to remove squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity and have at least one pN0 hemi-neck. It evaluates two different radiation therapy approaches: primary radiation therapy and secondary targeted radiation therapy, to guide treatment choices with strong evidence. The study is a Phase 2 randomized trial involving head and neck cancer patients. Participants will be randomly assigned in a 2:3 ratio to one of two groups. One group receives standard postoperative radiation therapy covering the tumor location and surrounding areas, including all dissected regions. The other group receives targeted radiation therapy that avoids treating the dissected pN0 neck. Treatment may include chemotherapy based on standard practices. The study plans to enroll 90 patients and follow them for five years. During the study, patients will be monitored regularly, with the main outcome being regional failure in the pN0 hemi-neck over five years. Researchers will assess quality of life using questionnaires and track treatment adherence and safety. The long-term follow-up ensures thorough evaluation of treatment effects and patient well-being throughout the study period.
