Researchers are investigating the long-term effects of two dietary approaches: the fasting mimicking diet (FMD) and the longevity diet (LD) on body composition and cardiovascular biomarkers in adults aged 30 to 65. This ongoing randomized, open-label trial aims to build on previous findings that showed benefits in body weight, BMI, body composition, and cardiovascular health markers. The study focuses on those who previously completed an FMD regimen, assessing how maintaining such nutritional programs affects fat mass and related health risk factors over time. Participants who completed earlier studies on FMD alone or combined with LD will continue with a 5-day FMD meal program every three months for one year. They will receive the FMD food boxes, which consist of a 100% plant-based nutrient blend, and will be asked to follow their usual diet except during the 5-day FMD periods. The study includes three assessment visits: baseline, after 6 months (3 FMD cycles), and after 12 months (5 FMD cycles), during which body composition and health markers will be evaluated. Throughout the study, participants will undergo body composition measurements using bioelectrical impedance analysis, vital sign checks, medical history updates, and fasting blood collections for laboratory and genetic analyses. They will monitor ketone levels in urine during FMD cycles using test strips provided. Researchers will track maintenance of fat mass lost in previous trials and improvements in cardiovascular and metabolic biomarkers, medication use, and overall safety over the one-year follow-up period.
