Researchers are comparing two drugs, tegoprazan and pantoprazole, to see which better relieves symptoms in adults diagnosed with erosive and non-erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The study focuses on the proportion of patients whose main GERD symptoms resolve after four weeks of treatment. Both men and women with recurrent heartburn and regurgitation lasting at least three months are included. Participants will receive either tegoprazan 50 mg or pantoprazole 40 mg once daily for 28 days. This randomized, double-blind, multicenter clinical trial evaluates acid suppression and symptom management during the treatment period. The study compares the effectiveness of these two acid-suppressing drugs over the same duration. During the study, participants' symptoms will be monitored from enrollment until the end of treatment at four weeks to assess symptom resolution. The trial includes endoscopic diagnosis and impedance pHmetry results within 15 days before enrollment to confirm eligibility. Safety is monitored by excluding those with certain medical conditions or medication interactions, ensuring participant well-being throughout the study.
