Researchers are evaluating the effectiveness of clinical hypnosis in reducing anxiety before surgery and pain after abdominal operations. This multicenter randomized controlled trial involves adult patients undergoing abdominal surgery at three centers in Morocco. The study aims to compare clinical hypnosis with standard psychological preparation to see if hypnosis can lower preoperative anxiety and improve postoperative outcomes. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups. The intervention group receives a single 15- to 20-minute individual clinical hypnosis session 30 to 60 minutes before surgery. This session includes eye fixation and relaxation, induction of a deep trance state, anxiety-reducing imagery, and a safe return to alertness, all delivered by a certified hypnotherapist. The control group receives the usual psychological preparation. The study is designed with balanced allocation and stratification by center and sex. Participants will be assessed for anxiety levels using a visual analog scale (VAS) one hour before surgery. Researchers will also monitor postoperative pain using an EVA pain scale, track analgesic medication use, and record hospital length of stay. The study includes consenting adults with physical status ASA I-II who can understand instructions and have no major psychological disorders, with the total number of participants planned between 48 and 68 across the centers.
