This research aims to evaluate how eco-driving assistance (EDA) systems affect the health and well-being of professional bus drivers. The trial investigates whether driving buses equipped with EDA increases physiological and psychological stress compared to driving buses without EDA. Researchers will also explore the link between stress measurements and biomarkers collected from biological samples. Participants will be assigned to drive buses with and without the EDA system using a pseudo-randomized, within-subject design. During the trial, drivers will use buses equipped with the EDA device that provides real-time feedback to promote fuel-efficient driving and reduce environmental impact. Each participant will complete at least 5 hours of driving shifts with buses equipped with EDA and 5 hours without, with a maximum study duration of 14 days. Throughout the study, drivers will wear a wearable ECG device to continuously monitor heart rate variability (HRV) as a stress indicator. At the end of each working day, participants will complete a questionnaire about their perceived stress and, if applicable, respond to questions related to the EDA-generated report. Biological samples and physiological measurements will also be collected from consenting participants. The study concludes when the required driving hours are completed.
