Researchers are studying the effects of calamansi powder capsule supplementation on blood glucose and insulin levels in healthy adults aged 18 to 30 years. This randomized, triple-blind study involves 54 sedentary male and female participants who will be divided into two groups a control group receiving placebo MMC capsules and a supplementation group receiving calamansi powder capsules. The purpose is to assess how these supplements influence blood sugar, insulin, and oxidative stress markers. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. The control group will take 1,500 mg per day of microcrystalline cellulose MMC capsules, while the other group will take 1,500 mg per day of calamansi powder capsules. Both groups will take three capsules daily within 15 to 30 minutes after breakfast at their homes. The study includes a short-term phase with a single dose and a long-term phase with 12 weeks of daily supplementation. Participants will undergo health screenings including medical history, mental health questionnaires, and measurements of vital signs, height, weight, and body composition. Blood samples will be collected at baseline, after a single dose, and after 12 weeks to measure glucose, insulin, creatinine, ALT, and malondialdehyde levels. Researchers will also monitor heart rate variability at these time points. The total study duration per participant covers these assessments and supplementation periods to understand the supplements impact.
