This research aims to understand the effects of a Mediterranean-style diet, with and without added exercise, on blood sugar control in women with prediabetes. Prediabetes is a condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be diagnosed as type 2 diabetes. The trial seeks to find out if adding supervised cycling and rowing exercises improves blood sugar control more than diet alone, and whether women who recently returned to normal blood sugar respond differently than those with ongoing high blood sugar. Participants are divided into three groups based on blood sugar levels and fitness for exercise one group follows a Mediterranean diet for 12 weeks without exercise the second group follows the diet plus an 8-week supervised exercise program involving cycling and rowing three times a week the third group, who had prediabetes in the past year but now have normal blood sugar, follows the same diet and exercise plan as the second group. The diet emphasizes vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts, olive oil, and fish while limiting processed foods and red meat. Exercise intensity is tailored using heart rate measurements and sessions are supervised. Participants will wear a continuous glucose monitor during several 10-day periods to track blood sugar changes throughout the day and night. They will also provide fasting blood samples to measure glucose, hemoglobin A1c, insulin, and oral glucose tolerance test results. Body measurements, diet adherence, sleep quality, and physical activity will be regularly assessed with questionnaires and standardized tests. The study will compare changes in blood sugar and other health markers over 12 weeks to understand how diet and exercise impact blood sugar control in this population.
