Researchers are studying how experiencing the operating room environment through virtual reality glasses before surgery affects patients fear levels and perceptions of care. The study focuses on patients undergoing elective cholecystectomy surgery who have never seen the operating room, aiming to understand if this virtual experience can reduce preoperative anxiety and improve care quality. This research is planned as a randomized controlled experimental study using a pretest-posttest design. The study involves showing patients a 360-degree video of the operating room environment, including premedication, the operating room itself, and the post-operative care unit. This video is recorded with a 360-degree camera and presented to patients via virtual reality glasses connected to an Android phone using the YouTube VR Pro application. Patients can look around freely in the video and watch it again if they choose. The main intervention is this virtual reality experience before surgery. Participants will be assessed for changes in their level of surgical fear and perceptions of nursing care after the virtual reality experience. Researchers will also observe vital signs and monitor the need for premedication. The study aims to improve patient outcomes by enhancing the quality of care and reducing surgery-related fear. The trial is expected to start in August 2024 and continue until December 2025.
