Researchers are evaluating the Oxford Visual Perception Screening (OxVPS) tool to see how well it identifies visual perception difficulties in stroke survivors. The study aims to compare the accuracy and usefulness of OxVPS against the current gold standard visual perception assessments. This is a non-experimental, cross-sectional study involving stroke patients from rehabilitation units in the North East of England and Oxfordshire who have experienced a stroke within the past 6 weeks. Participants will complete the paper version of the OxVPS, which takes about 15 minutes, followed by a longer assessment using a validated gold standard screening tool that lasts between 30 and 120 minutes. They will also undergo screening for cognitive changes and sensory vision issues using validated tools, taking about 30 minutes. Researchers will collect information about stroke details such as time since stroke and severity, along with demographic data like age and socio-economic status to ensure the study group is representative. During the study, participants will complete these screening tests within a two-week period. Researchers will measure the validity and reliability of the OxVPS tool during this time. The study includes assessments of visual perception, cognition, and sensory vision. There is no treatment involved, and the focus is on comparing screening methods to improve detection of visual perception difficulties after stroke.
