Healthy Volunteer
This research aims to evaluate the SanaMente peer-led mental health and lifestyle program designed for rural Latinoa adults living with chronic medical conditions and mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, and stress. The study focuses on assessing the programs feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effectiveness in improving mental health symptoms, healthy lifestyle behaviors, and overall well-being. This pilot study is single-arm without a comparison group and seeks to gather data to inform future, larger trials. Participants will take part in the 6-8 week SanaMente program, which is delivered in small groups by bilingual peer mentors trained in culturally tailored behavioral support. The program integrates strategies to address mental health and promote healthy behaviors like better sleep, physical activity, and nutrition. All participants receive the intervention, and the study monitors recruitment, attendance, engagement, and fidelity to the program. Throughout the study, participants complete surveys at baseline, mid-program, and post-program to assess mental health, lifestyle habits, and well-being, along with program satisfaction. Additional feedback is collected via exit surveys and optional focus groups. Researchers also measure various health indicators like blood pressure, weight, blood tests, and metabolic function before and after the program. The total involvement includes attending group sessions and completing assessments over the 6-8 week period.
