Actively Recruiting
This research aims to evaluate a mobile health app designed specifically for ethnically diverse Black men with prostate cancer, including those currently undergoing treatment and survivors. The purpose is to empower these men to actively participate in their care by providing culturally relevant information, symptom tracking, and patient testimonials. The study focuses on assessing the app's usability, acceptability, and usefulness in improving quality of life over 12 months. Participants will be divided into two groups. One group will complete electronic surveys about their quality of life at the start and at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months. The other group will do the same surveys but will also have access to the mobile app for 12 months. This app offers daily symptom and activity surveys and weekly mood assessments for the first 3 months, plus educational content tailored to Black men with prostate cancer. After 12 months, participants using the app will take part in interviews to provide feedback for future improvements. During the study, all participants will complete online quality-of-life surveys at multiple time points. Those using the app will have additional daily and weekly surveys for the first 3 months and will be interviewed after a year of use. Researchers will monitor overall quality of life in Black men with prostate cancer over 12 months. This includes gathering feedback on the app's features, symptoms, mood, and daily activities to understand its impact and identify areas for enhancement.
