Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Diagnosed with non-organic functional dysphonia, with or without minimally associated pathological lesions, and referred for voice therapy
  • Aged between 15 and 60 years old
  • Native Arabic speaker
  • Adequate language comprehension for the study tasks
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Presence of organic voice disorders
  • Aphonia or phon asthenia
  • Females menstruating or within the week of their menstrual cycle during data collection
  • History of severe respiratory allergies, thyroid issues, neuro-motor or hearing impairments, psychiatric problems, or physical diseases interfering with study completion
  • Use of regular medication affecting voice quality
  • Presence of speech disorders
  • Cigarette smoking, alcohol, or drug abuse within the past 5 years
  • Previous microlaryngeal surgery
  • Gastrointestinal reflux disease
