Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Serum uric acid level greater than 7 mg/dL after 1 month of a low-purine diet
- No history of gouty arthritis
- Not currently receiving uric acid-lowering drug treatment or stopped such treatment at least 12 weeks ago
- Body mass index (BMI) between 18.5 and 30.0 kg/m2
- Able to provide written informed consent
You will not qualify if you...
- Poorly controlled hypertension with systolic blood pressure 160 mmHg or higher, or diastolic blood pressure 100 mmHg or higher
- Poorly controlled diabetes with hemoglobin A1c of 8.4% or higher
- Severe liver or kidney damage, including chronic kidney disease stage 2 or higher, or enzyme levels more than twice the upper limit
- Blood system diseases such as leukemia, polycythemia, multiple myeloma, hemolytic anemia, lymphoma, or undergoing chemotherapy for solid tumors
- History of stroke, coronary heart disease, or severe neuropsychological diseases
- Pregnancy
- Illiteracy or unwillingness to accept acupuncture treatment
