MCID and PASS for Acute Pain and Quality of Recovery After Orthopedic Surgery
Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adult patients aged 18-80 years
- ASA class I to III
- Scheduled for primary elective surgery
- Undergoing unilateral major shoulder surgery such as stabilization or arthroplasty
- Undergoing unilateral total hip replacement
- Undergoing unilateral total knee replacement
- Undergoing spinal decompression and fusion involving 2 or more levels
- Planned hospital admission for at least 24 hours after surgery
You will not qualify if you...
- Unable to provide informed consent
- Poor comprehension of English
- Presence of psychiatric disorders such as dementia
- Known allergies to morphine or hydromorphone
- Chronic substance abuse or use of recreational drugs
- Any medical condition that prevents accurate and objective completion of questionnaires
