Age: 18Years - 80Years
All Genders

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Adult patients aged 18-80 years
  • ASA class I to III
  • Scheduled for primary elective surgery
  • Undergoing unilateral major shoulder surgery such as stabilization or arthroplasty
  • Undergoing unilateral total hip replacement
  • Undergoing unilateral total knee replacement
  • Undergoing spinal decompression and fusion involving 2 or more levels
  • Planned hospital admission for at least 24 hours after surgery
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Unable to provide informed consent
  • Poor comprehension of English
  • Presence of psychiatric disorders such as dementia
  • Known allergies to morphine or hydromorphone
  • Chronic substance abuse or use of recreational drugs
  • Any medical condition that prevents accurate and objective completion of questionnaires
