What this Trial Is About
Meningiomas are generally benign brain tumors but can increase the risk of blood clot complications after surgery. The exact molecular reasons for this increased risk are not yet understood. This study aims to observe and evaluate how blood clotting and platelet function change due to the surgical removal of these tumors. The study collects blood samples from patients before and immediately after surgery to remove meningiomas to detect these clotting changes. As a comparison group, blood samples are also taken from patients undergoing surgery to remove gliomas, another type of brain tumor. Participants will provide blood samples around the time of their surgery. Researchers will analyze these samples to measure changes in coagulation and platelet function during the surgery, focusing on tissue factor activity over the few hours that the tumor is removed. The study involves patients who consent to participate and includes a control group for comparison.
