Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Patients with pancreatic cancer who are 18 years or older
- Newly diagnosed with pancreatic adenocarcinoma (local or metastatic)
- Tube feeding or parenteral nutrition for 14 days or less
- Cachectic patients must have involuntary weight loss greater than 5% over 6 months, or weight loss over 2% with BMI less than 20 kg/m2 or sarcopenia diagnosed by BIA
- Non-cachectic patients must have stable weight within 2% over 6 months, no anorexia before diagnosis, and no impaired glucose tolerance
- Healthy volunteers 18 years or older with BMI between 18.5 and 30 kg/m2
- Healthy volunteers must have no chronic or acute disease
- Healthy volunteers matched by gender and age (within 5 years) to a pancreatic cancer patient
You will not qualify if you...
- Under 18 years old
- Unable to give consent
- Insufficient knowledge of French or German
- Pancreatic adenocarcinoma already treated by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or major surgery such as duodenopancreatectomy or biliary diversion
- Known rheumatologic or immunologic diseases
- Use of therapeutic antibiotics or immunosuppressive drugs in the 30 days before inclusion
