Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Patients aged 12 to 18 diagnosed with atopic eczema by a Consultant Dermatologist
- Patients with atopic eczema requiring systemic immuno-modulatory therapy or on topical therapy, and healthy controls
- Written informed consent obtained from patient or parent/legal guardian, with assent based on age and understanding
- Willingness to follow all study requirements
- Competent use of English according to patient's age, sufficient to understand questionnaires and MRI instructions
You will not qualify if you...
- Insufficient understanding of the study by patient or parent/guardian
- Any contraindication to MRI scanning, including implanted devices or metal from surgery or accidents
- Conditions limiting ability to complete MRI, such as significant claustrophobia
- Formal sleep disorder requiring systemic medication diagnosed by a sleep specialist
- Sleep disturbances due to other illnesses significantly impacting study sleep components
- Past or current substance misuse
- Use of medications that may affect sleep study quality as judged by the investigator
