Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 18 to 60 years
- Able to provide written informed consent
- Meet criteria for Borderline Personality Disorder on a semi-structured clinical interview
- Able to keep prescribed medications and psychotherapy constant during the study
- Fluent in English
You will not qualify if you...
- Currently receiving Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) outside the study
- Lifetime diagnosis of primary psychotic disorder or Bipolar I disorder
- Developmental disorders such as autism
- History of learning disorder
- Moderate or severe substance use disorder in the last 6 months
- Active suicidal thoughts with intent or plan in the past 3 months
- History of major medical or neurological disorders
- MRI contraindications, including pregnancy
- Poor performance on a reading task (more than 11 errors)
- Newly prescribed medications in the past 8 weeks
- Use of daytime sedating medications such as benzodiazepines, opiates, or sedating neuroleptics
- Scheduled daily use of benzodiazepines
- Changes in psychotherapy type or frequency in the past 12 weeks
- Other exclusion at the discretion of the study principal investigator
