International Study on Minimally Invasive Thermal Treatments for Small Papillary Thyroid Cancer

Researchers are evaluating Minimally Invasive Treatments of the Thyroid MITT as a possible alternative to surgery for patients with Papillary Thyroid MicroCarcinoma PTMC. This observational study aims to establish a prospective registry of patients treated with MITT to validate the safety of the procedure and collect long-term results in a large group of patients. The study is led by the European Institute of Oncology. The study involves image-guided thermal ablation, a procedure that delivers precise heat to the tumor while sparing surrounding thyroid tissue. This minimally invasive treatment is being studied because it may have similar effectiveness to surgery but with fewer complications, better quality of life, and improved cosmetic outcomes. Patients diagnosed with micropapillary thyroid carcinoma will undergo this treatment and be followed over time. Participants will be monitored for safety, including recording any major complications within one month after treatment. Long-term follow-up will track the occurrence of local recurrence, distant metastasis, and mortality over 10 years. Patients must be accessible for follow-up visits, and data will be collected to assess the procedures outcomes. The total participation duration spans at least 10 years for long-term monitoring.
