Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Female participants aged 18 to 40 years
  • Non-pregnant women for control group
  • Women diagnosed with pregnancy of unknown location requiring ongoing serum hCG monitoring for case group
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • History of kidney disease
  • History of type I or type II diabetes
  • Known malignancy including hCG-secreting tumors or ovarian germ cell tumors
  • Gestational trophoblastic disease
  • Use of hormonal contraception within the last 3 months
  • Night shift workers (controls only)
  • Unstable patients or concern for ruptured ectopic pregnancy (cases only)
  • Initial serum hCG level greater than 100,000 mIU/ml (cases only)
