What this Trial Is About
This research aims to evaluate a mobile health application designed to support mothers experiencing food insecurity by helping them manage stress and develop coping skills. This pilot study focuses on the feasibility, acceptability, and potential benefits of the app without including a comparison group, targeting women or non-binary individuals with children under 18 living in their household who have faced food insecurity recently. Participants will use the MOMent app for eight weeks, which delivers behavioral content through their smartphones. The app sends three daily messages focused on stress management, coping skill-building, and mental well-being support. It includes educational modules, goal-setting activities, coping exercises, and daily check-ins, allowing participants to engage at their own pace throughout the intervention. During the study, participants will complete baseline and post-intervention assessments measuring food security, mental health symptoms, coping behaviors, diet quality, and cognitive functioning. Researchers will track recruitment feasibility, retention, app engagement, usability, and participant acceptability. Some participants may also be invited for follow-up interviews to share their experiences with the app. The study runs from July 2026 through November 2026.
