Modulation Effect of tACS on Chronic Low Back Pain
Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Volunteers aged between 18 and 60 years
- Have chronic low back pain lasting more than 6 months
- Experience clinical pain intensity of at least 4 out of 10 on the low back pain numeric rating scale
- Can read and understand English at least at a 10th grade level
- Meet screening criteria for MRI, MEG, and EEG procedures
You will not qualify if you...
- Back pain caused by specific conditions such as cancer, fractures, spinal stenosis, or infections
- Complicated back problems like previous back surgery or medicolegal issues
- Plans to undergo surgery during the study period
- History of cardiac, respiratory, or nervous system diseases that increase risk, including asthma or claustrophobia
- Contraindications to MRI scanning, such as pacemakers, metal implants, claustrophobia, pregnancy, or inability to lie still
- Presence of autoimmune, chronic inflammatory, neoplastic, or psychiatric diseases
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- Conditions that make participation difficult, including paralysis or severe psychological problems
- Active substance abuse disorders
- Regular use of pain medications including opioids, nonopioid analgesics, coanalgesics, corticosteroids, or immunomodulatory agents
- Medical conditions like peripheral neuropathy that may affect sensory testing results
- Current use of psychotropic medications
