Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Willing and able to provide consent for the MOVE-1 Main Study.
  • Willing and able to attend all study visits and comply with procedures.
  • Able to read and speak English well enough to provide consent and understand instructions.
  • Healthy adults aged 65 to 80 years.
  • Body mass index between greater than 19 and less than 35 kg/m2.
  • No personal plans like vacations or medical procedures during the study period.
  • Older Elite Athletes with current elite-level physical activity and consistent high activity history.
  • Healthy Older Adults who are sedentary, defined as no more than 1 day per week of structured endurance or resistance exercise in the past year, no physically active job history, and no consistent high activity level in the last 25 years.
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Requires assistance with any daily living activities except continence.
  • Lives in an institutional setting such as skilled nursing or residential care.
  • History of abnormal bleeding or clotting disorders.
  • Female participants must be post-menopause.
  • Musculoskeletal conditions preventing exercise testing.
  • Elevated resting blood pressure (SBP ≥150 mmHg or DBP ≥90 mmHg).
  • Diabetes treated with hypoglycemic agents or fasting glucose over 125 mg/dL.
  • Chronic pulmonary disease limiting exercise capacity.
  • Cardiovascular diseases such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, stroke, or peripheral artery disease.
  • Abnormal blood lipid levels: triglycerides over 500 mg/dL or LDL cholesterol over 190 mg/dL.
  • History of cancer treatment within 2 years or recent anti-hormonal therapy.
  • Active or chronic infections requiring treatment, including HIV and hepatitis B or C under treatment.
  • Liver enzyme levels more than twice the normal upper limit.
  • Chronic kidney disease with low estimated glomerular filtration rate.
  • Abnormal hematocrit levels outside local normal ranges.
  • Recent blood donation within 3 months or plasma/platelet donation within 1 week.
  • Autoimmune disorders under active systemic treatment in the last 6 months.
  • Excessive alcohol use or history of binge drinking in the past 5 years.
  • Current smokers or recent former smokers based on pack-year history and quit time.
  • Frequent recreational drug use (3 or more days per week).
  • Night shift workers in the last 6 months or planned during the study.
  • Cognitive inability to consent or safely complete the study.
  • Recent psychiatric hospitalization within 1 year.
  • Significant recent weight change over 5% or plans to change weight during the study.
  • Allergy to lidocaine or local anesthetics.
  • Recent COVID-19 infection without required symptom-free period.
  • Other medical conditions judged by clinicians to prevent safe participation or affect study results.
