Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age between 18 and 45 years
- Male or female
- Right-handed
- In good general health
- Women of childbearing capacity must use an effective method of birth control
You will not qualify if you...
- Current or diagnosis within past six months of a DSM-V Axis I or Axis II disorder (self-reported)
- CES-D score of 20 or higher indicating significant current depression symptoms
- Current or past six month use of prescription medications for psychiatric conditions such as depression or anxiety
- Current serious medical illness (self-reported)
- Head injury resulting in loss of consciousness
- For participants over 59 years old, a total scaled score less than 8 on the Dementia Rating Scale-2
- Clinically-defined neurological disorders including increased intracranial pressure, brain lesions, stroke, transient ischemic attack within two years, cerebral aneurysm, dementia, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, or multiple sclerosis
- Mini Mental Status Exam (MMSE) score below 24
- Presence of cochlear implants or other implanted electronic devices or non-removable metal such as non-removable piercings or intrauterine devices
- History of eye injury involving metal without prior written approval
- Claustrophobia or unwillingness to tolerate MRI scanner confinement
- Weight over 250 pounds
