Researchers are investigating how combining traditional Chinese medicine with modern low-level laser therapy can affect weight management and body composition in obese menopausal women. This study focuses on women aged 45 to 55 years with a body mass index over 24 kg/m² or a waist-to-hip ratio above 0.88. The goal is to see if adding laser acupuncture to lifestyle changes following WHO guidelines can improve weight loss and body composition better than lifestyle changes alone. Participants are randomly assigned to two groups: one receiving multi-acupoint low-level laser therapy and the other receiving a sham laser treatment without therapeutic energy. Both groups follow standardized diet and exercise guidance based on WHO recommendations. The laser therapy involves 12 sessions over 6 weeks, each lasting 30 minutes and targeting 10 specific acupoints related to weight management. During the study, body composition measures including body fat mass and muscle mass are taken at the start, mid-treatment, and after treatment. Menopausal symptoms and feelings of fullness are also assessed. Safety and tolerability are closely monitored throughout. The total study period involves 6 weeks of treatment with ongoing assessments to track changes and effects.
