Researchers are conducting a large-scale registry study in Germany to gather detailed information on Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), a chronic multisystem disease that can cause severe disability. The study includes patients of all ages and aims to better understand the different forms, causes, and disease courses of ME/CFS, including cases following infections like COVID-19 and Epstein-Barr virus. This registry will also support future clinical trials by providing valuable data on how ME/CFS affects health care and patients' lives. The study is web-based and nationwide in Germany, inviting patients diagnosed with ME/CFS according to established international criteria to join. Participants may also contribute biological samples to support future research. There are no specific treatments or medications tested in this registry; instead, the focus is on collecting comprehensive clinical information and deep phenotyping to identify disease subtypes and risk factors. Participants will provide medical history, undergo routine physical exams, and have laboratory and technical test results assessed. The study will monitor these outcomes over a long period to understand disease progression and patient experiences. Researchers will collect data on symptoms, health status, and care received, helping to build a detailed picture of ME/CFS for future study and improved patient support.
