This is a multi-site study of ALS participants and healthy controls who will undergo brain and cervical spine MRIs and NfL blood testing at up-to 4 time points over the course of a year. Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Diagnosis of definite, probable, lab supported-probable or possible ALS by El Escorial criteria OR definite, probable or possible ALS by Awaji-Shima Criteria
- Symptoms started less than 36 months ago
- Forced vital capacity measured within the last 90 days is at least 60% of predicted value
- Able to provide informed consent personally
- Able to read and speak English
- No contraindications for MRI scanning
You will not qualify if you...
- Any condition that makes MRI unsafe or inability to comply with instructions
- Control participants with clinically significant abnormal neurological exam findings will be excluded
