Evaluating Miebo Eye Drops for Treating Dry Eye in Adults Undergoing LASIK Surgery

What this Trial Is About

This research aims to compare eye dryness after laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis LASIK surgery with eye dryness before receiving perioperative Miebo treatment in adults who have dry eye disease DED. The study evaluates the effect of using Miebo eye drops around the time of LASIK surgery to better understand its impact on dry eye symptoms. The study is sponsored by Vance Thompson Vision and is a phase 4, open-label interventional trial. Participants will use Miebo eye drops four times daily for one month before undergoing routine, uncomplicated bilateral LASIK surgery and continue using the drops for 1.5 months after the surgery. The treatment involves dosing each eye with Miebo eye drops and observing any changes in eye dryness symptoms over this period. During the study, participants will have their eye dryness measured using a visual analog scale VAS to compare symptoms before and after LASIK surgery while on Miebo treatment. The total study duration includes the month of treatment before surgery and 1.5 months after, with the primary outcome measured at 4 months. Participants will also undergo regular assessments and follow instructions to ensure the treatment and measurements are accurately recorded throughout the study.
