What this Trial Is About
MAGNETS is a prospective, randomized, parallel-design, sham-controlled clinical trial of accelerated, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)-guided intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) to the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC) for chronic symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in a comorbid Veteran population.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Aged 18 to 80 years
- Diagnosed with PTSD and have ongoing symptoms with a PCL-5 score of 31 or higher
- Fluent in English
- On stable doses of psychotropic medications for at least one month
You will not qualify if you...
- History of neurological disease beyond mild traumatic brain injury
- History of seizures other than immediate posttraumatic or childhood febrile seizures
- History of psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder
- Active substance or alcohol dependence without ongoing treatment
- Presence of any implanted electrical device such as a pacemaker
- Recent medical hospitalization within the past four weeks
- Any condition preventing completion of the study protocol
- Unable to provide informed consent or has a legal representative
- Involved in ongoing litigation related to PTSD, TBI, disability, or service connection
- Contraindication to MRI
- Pregnant women
- Members of vulnerable populations including minors and prisoners
- Cognitively impaired adults lacking capacity to consent
