Studying the Effect of a Relaxing Multisensory Video on Pain, Anxiety, and Comfort During Thyroid Biopsy

This research evaluates how watching a therapeutic video affects pain, anxiety, and comfort levels in patients undergoing thyroid biopsy procedures. Conducted as a quasi-experimental, pretest-posttest controlled trial at the interventional radiology unit of Mu State Hospital, the study includes 68 patients divided into experimental and control groups. The goal is to assess whether the relaxing audiovisual intervention can improve patient experience during the biopsy. Participants are assigned alternately to either the intervention or control group. The intervention group watches a multisensory therapeutic video featuring calming nature scenes, soothing narration, and soft music immediately before and during the biopsy. The control group receives standard care without the video. This approach aims to reduce anxiety and discomfort associated with the procedure. During the study, data will be collected using standardized tools including pain and comfort visual analog scales and the State Anxiety Inventory. Measurements are taken before and after the biopsy to compare changes between groups. The study monitors pain levels as the primary outcome over five months and evaluates psychological and procedural effects related to the video intervention throughout the trial period.
