What this Trial Is About
This research aims to evaluate the effects of music therapy on dental anxiety during restorative dental treatment in adults with moderate to high dental anxiety. Participants are randomly assigned to one of three groups to receive either classical music therapy, Turkish music therapy, or no music therapy while undergoing standard restorative procedures. The study focuses on measuring anxiety and physiological responses to better understand how music might help manage dental anxiety. Each participant receives a single carpule of local anesthetic without vasoconstrictor, followed by caries removal and cavity preparation by the same clinician using a standardized protocol. The restorative procedure involves selective enamel etching, application of a universal dental adhesive, and restoration with a resin composite cured with an LED unit. Only one restoration is performed per patient, and the total procedure time is recorded. Music therapy is applied during treatment for two experimental groups, while the control group receives no music therapy. Participants provide saliva samples before and after treatment for cortisol and alpha-amylase analysis, and researchers measure blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and dental anxiety scores both before and after the procedure. These assessments help track physiological and psychological changes related to dental anxiety. The study starts in January 2025 and ends in November 2025, with all procedures and analyses performed under controlled conditions to ensure accurate and blinded results.
