Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adults aged 18 to 65 years
- Non-diabetic patients diagnosed with bladder cancer who have not had chemotherapy before
- Patients with stable kidney function, defined as an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) above 60 ml/min/1.73 m2
You will not qualify if you...
- History of lactic acidosis
- Use of nephrotoxic medications other than cisplatin (such as frusemide, NSAIDs, aminoglycosides, or vancomycin)
- Unstable kidney function with sudden serum creatinine increase of 0.3 mg/dL or more within 48 hours
- Heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, or cardiogenic shock
- Severe infections or sepsis requiring hospitalization or intensive support such as oxygen, intubation, vasopressors, or fluids
- Alcohol intake
- Respiratory failure
- Severe liver impairment classified as Child-Pugh class C
- Presence of cancer metastasis
