Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Be between 18 and 45 years old and right-handed
  • Be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (at least 2 weeks after final dose) or have a negative Covid test within 4 days before testing
  • Report no Covid symptoms in the week before testing
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Have current vision problems other than needing glasses or contacts
  • Experience frequent severe headaches
  • Have glaucoma, heart or respiratory disease, hypertension, psychiatric conditions, or learning or attention disorders
  • Have current or past visual, hearing, or balance impairments
  • History of stroke, seizures, epilepsy (including family history), or severe head trauma
  • History of fainting or diabetes
  • Have metal implants in the head (except titanium), cochlear implants, implanted neurostimulators, cardiac pacemakers, intracardiac lines, or medication infusion devices
  • Have hair styles that prevent contact between TMS coil and scalp (e.g., dreadlocks, weaves, hair extensions)
  • Have serious injury to bones, joints, or muscles of either hand or arm not fully recovered
  • Taking medications or drugs that affect cortical excitability or increase seizure risk (list provided in study)
  • On testing days, have consumed more than 3 units of alcohol or recreational drugs in the past 24 hours
  • On testing days, have had more than 3 cups of coffee in the last hour
  • On testing days, slept less than 4 hours the previous night
  • On testing days, participated in another brain stimulation experiment
  • On testing days, have Covid symptoms and are not fully vaccinated or tested negative within 4 days
  • Unable to perform the reaching task or follow instructions during familiarization
  • TMS stimulation parameters cannot be reliably determined or TMS is not well tolerated
