What this Trial Is About

Researchers are studying chronic pelvic pain in transgender people who are using testosterone therapy. This observational, qualitative study aims to describe the characteristics of this pelvic pain, how it affects quality of life, and to understand factors that help or hinder consulting healthcare professionals. The study is led by the University Hospital in Grenoble and focuses on transmasculine individuals experiencing new or changed pelvic pain since starting testosterone. Participants in this study will be transmasculine individuals using gender-affirming hormonal therapy who have had pelvic pain for at least six months that appeared or changed after starting testosterone therapy. The study involves a single semi-structured interview lasting about 1.5 hours. During this interview, participants will discuss their pelvic pain and its impact on their lives, and pelvic pain intensity will be assessed at the start. Participants will be recruited through community groups and mailings and will complete one interview. Researchers will analyze the interview data qualitatively to better understand the pain experiences and barriers to care. The main outcome measured is the detailed description of pelvic pain and its effect on quality of life. The study is planned to run until December 2025.
