The primary aim of this project will be to determine the effects of the tRNS-augmented unilateral and bilateral MT, and their effects relative to the control interventions (sham tRNS with unilateral or bilateral MT) on restoring health outcomes including motor function, daily function, quality of life and self-efficacy, and motor control strategy as well as brain activities (electroencephalography, EEG) in stroke patients.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Stroke onset at least 3 months ago from a first-ever unilateral stroke
- Initial Fugl-Meyer Assessment score between 18 and 56 indicating moderate to mild upper arm impairment
- Age between 35 and 85 years
- No excessive spasticity in any joints of the affected arm (shoulder, elbow, wrist, fingers)
- Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks with Mini Mental State Examination score of 24 or higher
- No participation in other neurorehabilitation experiments or drug trials
- Willingness to provide written informed consent
You will not qualify if you...
- History of epilepsy, pregnancy, pacemakers, or metallic implants in the neck or head
- History of drug or alcohol abuse
- Other neurological conditions such as dementia, Parkinson's disease, brain tumor, brain injury, intracranial hypertension, or cerebral edema
- Botulinum toxin injections within 3 months before enrollment
- Unstable cardiovascular conditions such as uncontrolled hypertension or severe heart failure (NYHA Class III/IV) or deemed unsuitable for tRNS by physician assessment
