Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Diagnosis of cirrhosis based on liver biopsy and/or clinical, biochemical, and imaging criteria
- Child Pugh score from A5 to B7
- Control group participants must have normal serum ALT and AST levels
You will not qualify if you...
- Diabetes
- Cancer
- Kidney failure
- Pregnancy
- Recent surgery such as bowel resection or gastric bypass operation
- Advanced cardiac or pulmonary disease
- Thyroid disease and coagulopathy (INR >1.4 and platelet count <80,000/ml)
