Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adults >40 years of age
- Pain at the thumb base caused by direct pressure and movement
- Pain that has not improved with previous treatments such as over-the-counter medications, icing, splinting, or topical pain relief
- Radiological evidence of arthritis in the thumb joint based on stages 1 to 4 of the Eaton-Littler classification
- Ability to understand the study protocol and provide informed consent
- Coverage by health insurance
You will not qualify if you...
- Known allergy to ketorolac or triamcinolone
- Changes in pain treatment or symptom management within 4 weeks before joining the study
- Presence of symptomatic scaphoid-trapezial arthritis
- Local or systemic infection
- Previous surgery or injury to the study thumb
- Inflammatory arthritis such as rheumatoid or psoriatic arthritis
- Severe or uncontrolled high blood pressure
- Presence of De Quervain tendinopathy
- Injection to the study thumb's trapeziometacarpal joint within the last 6 weeks
- Uncontrolled diabetes
- Pregnancy or lactation; women of childbearing potential must have a negative pregnancy test
- Immunodeficiency
- Current use of nicotine products or quit within the last 12 months
- Under guardianship or not self-sufficient
- Participation in another clinical trial that conflicts with this study
- Unable to follow the study protocol as judged by the investigators
