What this Trial Is About
Researchers at the New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF) Research Institute are studying a wide range of diseases, conditions, and genetic traits by creating stem cells from biological samples like skin and blood. These stem cells can develop into any cell type in the body, even those difficult to obtain directly. The research also includes genetic testing to better understand DNA and genes, which can influence disease risk and other traits. The goal is to accelerate discovery of future treatments or cures for major diseases. Participants provide biological samples such as skin biopsies, blood, saliva, or leftover samples from medical procedures. These samples are used to create stem cells and conduct genetic analyses. The study includes two groups: individuals with a diagnosis or medical history of a disease or trait of interest, and healthy controls. Participation involves completing health questionnaires, providing samples, and possibly future follow-up to share additional information or learn about other studies. During the study, participants complete questionnaires and provide biological samples for stem cell creation and genetic testing. Researchers monitor and store these samples for future research. The primary outcome measure is the establishment of the biobank at baseline. This observational study is ongoing, with participation lasting as long as the study continues, and includes possible future follow-up to collect more data or involve participants in further research.

You may qualify if you...
- Age 30 days or older
- Diagnosis or medical history of a condition, disease, genetic background, or trait of interest, or healthy control
- Adults with decisional capacity must provide written informed consent unless physical limitations prevent signing
- Adults without decisional capacity must have a diagnosis of specific neurological or neurodegenerative conditions and provide assent; a legally authorized representative must provide consent
- Minors providing skin samples must have a condition, disease, genetic background, or trait of interest and parental/guardian consent
- Minors providing blood and/or saliva samples may have a condition, disease, genetic background, or trait of interest or be healthy controls and must have parental/guardian consent
- Minors transferring biological samples from outside procedures may have a condition, disease, genetic background, or trait of interest or be healthy controls and must have parental/guardian consent
You will not qualify if you...
- Wards of the state
- For prospective skin samples: history of keloid formation, coagulation disorder, or allergy to anesthetic
- For prospective blood samples: history of coagulation disorder
- Subjects refusing to follow safety protocols at NYSCF or collection sites
- Subjects with AIDS diagnosis and CD4 count less than 200 cells per microliter of blood due to increased infection risk
