Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Patient is younger than 18 years old
- Patient visits the emergency department with signs of suspected acute cannabis-induced CNS depression
- Evidence of cannabis or CB1 agonist exposure within the last 12 hours confirmed by toxicology, history, physical evidence, or self-report
- Symptoms developed during or shortly after cannabis exposure, or symptoms consistent with acute cannabis-induced CNS depression as judged by clinician
- Blood samples can be obtained as part of routine clinical care or via existing IV line
- Legally authorized representative is willing and able to provide consent
- Patient is willing and able to provide assent if applicable and feasible based on age and condition
You will not qualify if you...
- Any condition that increases risk or prevents study compliance as judged by principal investigator
- Signs or symptoms better explained by another medical condition, mental disorder, or drug exposure other than cannabis
- Diagnosis of cannabis use disorder, cannabis hyperemesis syndrome, or cannabis withdrawal syndrome
- Patients brought in by law enforcement with cannabis intoxication related to vehicle accidents
