Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adults aged 18 to 65 years
- Severe knee osteoarthritis
- Body mass index (BMI) between 45 and 60
You will not qualify if you...
- Previous total replacement of the same knee
- Need for bilateral total knee replacement
- Knee pain rated higher than 60 mm on a 100-mm visual-analogue scale during the previous week
- Prior bariatric or complex foregut surgery
- Significant cardiovascular, pulmonary, renal, liver, gastrointestinal, or psychiatric disorders
- Pregnancy
- Malignancy within the last 5 years
- Anemia
- Coagulopathy requiring anti-coagulation therapy
