The purpose of this study is to help Veterans learn about different ways they can manage chronic pain that do not involve medications. Veterans will work with a coach to explore the Veterans' values and goals and how different non-medication approaches may fit into these values and goals.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Have musculoskeletal pain in the low back, cervical spine, or extremities (hip, knee, or shoulder) for at least 3 months
- Have at least moderate pain intensity and interference with function, defined by a score of 4 or higher on the PEG pain measure
- Have a primary care appointment scheduled or due in approximately the next three months
- Be open to trying new pain treatments
You will not qualify if you...
- Psychiatric hospitalization in the past 6 months
- Long-term opioid therapy
- Severe medical conditions likely preventing participation, such as advanced heart failure, heart attack, stroke, or cancer
- Cognitive impairment with a score greater than 3 on the MMSE cognitive screen
- Active suicidal ideation
- Severe hearing or speech impairment
